OverTails

A friendly modded Minecraft server. Build machines, fly airships, share dinner, and slowly find out what broke this world.

NeoForge 1.21.1, so you need the modpack. See how to join below.

The wheel stopped turning

Long ago, five guilds kept a great wheel turning beneath the world. Then something went wrong. The rivers slowed, the sky cracked, and everyone left.

On OverTails, you wash up on a quiet shore with a half empty journal. Every machine you build, every train you run and every boss you beat adds a page. Nobody has to follow the story, but it is there if you want it.

Listen before you take. Build what lasts. Never take more turn than the wheel can give. From the Ledger of Ada Vell

What people do here

Over two hundred mods, held together by Create. You can go deep on one thing or wander between all of them.

Factories and trains

Gears, belts, steam engines and rail lines that link everyone's bases together.

Airships

Build something that flies, then race it, fill it with cargo or put a kitchen on board.

Bosses and ruins

The Twilight Forest, rebuilt dungeons, a burning Nether and an End full of broken islands.

Shops and feasts

Mint coins, open a stall at spawn, cook something big and invite people over.

How to join

You need the same modpack as the server. It takes about ten minutes the first time.

  1. Install the CurseForge app

Download it from curseforge.com and sign in. Pick Minecraft when it asks which games you play.

  2. Import the modpack

Get the pack zip from the server owner. In CurseForge, click Create Custom Profile, then Import, and choose the zip. It downloads every mod for you.

  3. Give it enough memory

Open CurseForge settings, go to Minecraft, and set allocated memory to at least 8 GB. The pack will crash or stutter with less.

  4. Add the server and join

Launch the profile, go to Multiplayer, Add Server, and paste the address from the top of this page. The first join is slow while everything loads.

  5. Say hi

Hold V to talk in voice chat. Open the quest book from your inventory and start with Welcome.

House rules

OverTails is a co-op server. These keep it fun for everyone. Staff use common sense, so if something feels wrong, it probably is.

Be kind

No harassment, slurs, or bullying, in chat or in voice. Keep arguments out of public chat. Swearing is fine, aiming it at someone is not.

Respect other people's stuff

No griefing, stealing, or messing with someone's machines, even as a joke. Loot chests in the wild are fair game, and everyone gets their own copy of the loot.

Give bases some room

Stay at least 100 blocks away from someone's base unless they invite you closer. Claim your land with the map (press M) so everyone can see where you live.

Go easy on the server

Big farms and endless contraptions slow everyone down. Add an off switch, turn things off when you log out, and keep mob farms small. Park airships when you are done flying.

Explosions need a heads up

Cannons, missiles, and big TNT are welcome far away from other people. Ask in chat first, and stay at least 300 blocks from anyone's build.

Play fair

No x-ray, hacked clients, or dupe glitches. Minimaps and the mods in the pack are fine. Found a bug that duplicates items? Report it instead of using it.

Trade honestly

Shops are part of the fun. Price things how you like, but no scams, bait and switch, or taking coins without delivering.

Keep it all ages

No inappropriate builds, skins, paintings, or names. Custom paintings and music discs count too.

Breaking a rule usually means a warning first, then a short ban, then a permanent one. Griefing and cheating can skip straight to a ban. To report someone, type /dash report followed by their name in game.
